Members of the 1st Battalion, 256 Air Defense Artillery experienced their last few moments with friends and family , as they gathered at the National Guard Armory in Daytona Beach, followed by a deployment ceremony at the Daytona Beach International Airport wherre the soldiers boarded a 747 bound for Ft. Bliss, in El Paso, Texas. Specialist Bernardo Alicea, of Orlando, hugs his wife Maria, and their children Stephanie Armijo, and Michael Armijo at the Armory.
